Reflection of English Lecture
The Problem of Mathematics Teaching

          Monday,February  25th  2013. The main idea the neeting is about The Problem of Mathematics teaching. Especially to teaching method that used by teacher.

          The first, picture 1. Thismethod reflect traditional method of teaching learning of mathematics is traditional teaching. In this method its very old method, that the purpose is just transfer of knowladge.In this method, there are characteristic of student and teacher behaviour. The characteristic of student behaviour are :
1.      Student inclined passive, because the teacher just explain the material so student can`t taken in the lesson.
2.      Student will borong, because the teacher just explain the material.
3.      And than student easy sleepy.
And the characteristic of teacher behaviour are :
1.      Teacher inclined Conceited
2.      Teacher just explain the lesson.
3.      Teacher just show their skill.
4.      Teacher not trust at her/his student.
5.      Teacher just transfer knowladge.
          Second, picture 2. Means the teacher to fasilited student. In this method the actor is student, that in the first is focus to teacher now focus to student. In this method the student must be active at the lesson. The teacher fasilited using various method, resource, trals or equipment. The resource can organaized as web blog, thepurpose in order that to develop own knowladge, in everywhere we can open this blog and can study from this.The student also can construct, invent own life. The philosopy of this method is constructivism. In this


Method, the student are to be perceived as seed, so teacher be fasilitated to grow up the ability of student until them usefull.
          In the fact it`s not easy to implement the innovative method or teaching. Because traditional method have been our culture from colonizer era until now. But the innovative method must be implement because it is nature likes plant.
          So the problem of education comes from an adult. Means if the student have problem with their study it could be comes from the teacher, how the teacher explain, the teacher it could be push the student to accsess knowladge like teacher thinking. It`s no provide now, it`s call stimulus respond. But now we can learn from everything, like from internet from friend etc. In this innovative method the student is unpredictble. Every knowladge not coming from the teacher.
The nature of all aspects of teaching learning of mathematics. For example :
1. The nature of school mathematics.
2. The nature of student`s learning mathematics.
3. The nature of learning resource.
Mainly there are 2 mathematcs.
1. Formal mathematics.
2. School mathematics.

          University level
            ·    According Ebboft Stair, 1995.
1.    Mathematics is a seach of pathern and relasionsip.
2.    Mathematics is a problem solving activity.
3.    Mathematics is a investigation activity.
4.    Mathematics is the means of communication. That means mathematics can substance to communication.



 



Elementary, Junior, and Senior high school
         

So in the elementary school, we can analize there is not an problem solving, investigation, communication it`s not mathematics. In the fact, in elementary school many student have push with university level material.

          At the base is concrat mathematics mens everything that  support, example is table, paper, board, etc. So in the university level is study about formal mathematics. Model concret means what is to be visual like use drawing picture. And in the formal mathematics model concret use symbol “3+2”. Everything not be definited. And now problem of education is student lost their intuision, and the it`s the fundamentation problem of mathematics education.
